New Roots Herbal is a leading Canadian manufacturer and distributor of high-quality natural health products. Founded in 1985, our newly constructed and expanded head office, state-of-art laboratory and manufacturing facility is located in Vaudreuil-Dorion. With over 100 employees, we produce, market and distribute over 335 different natural health products to over 16 countries through 8,600 independent natural-products stores. Through our Choose to Care program, we have donated over $1.5 million to foundations and charities that support the environment as well families and children in need.

As our business continues to grow, we are now strengthening our Accounting Department. Reporting to the controller, this position will be supported by the accounts receivable and payable team.

Tasks & Responsibilities

·         Maintain full cycle bookkeeping

·         Reconcile all bank accounts weekly

·         Reconcile intercompany accounts monthly

·         Maintain capital expenditure records and depreciation on a monthly basis

·         Post payroll journal entries monthly

·         Ensure subledgers reconcile to general ledger on a monthly basis

·         Reconcile balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis

·         Review all credit card statements and expense reports, supporting documentation, code, secure approval and post on a timely basis

·         Prepare monthly financial statements

·         Analyze variances within accounts as required

·         Review accounts payable weekly, check coding and propose cheque run

·         Prepare and file monthly GST / QST reports

·         Prepare and submit all corporate tax installments and remittances

·         Assist in preparing for the year-end audit and any other government audits

·         Assist in improving internal controls

·         Provide clerical and administrative support as required

·         Review export documentation

·         Maintain foreign exchange rates in the system

·         Assist with inventory costing

·         Assist with special projects as required

·         Maintain books and records of other minor entities within the group of companies

Skills & Competencies

  • Experience managing full-cycle bookkeeping and financial statement preparation
  • Excellent understanding of accounting and financial reporting principles and practices
  • Good knowledge of ERP systems, SAP Business One is a plus
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs, including advanced Excel knowledge with a proven ability to manipulate large amounts of data
  • Good knowledge of manufacturing costing
  • Problem solving skills
  • Team player, works efficiently under pressure and respects deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills both in French and English
  • Excellent time management and planning skills
  • Attention to detail

Education & Experience

  • AEC, DEP or DEC in Accounting
  • 5+ years experience prior relevant experience in a manufacturing environment


Work Schedule

Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm
40 hours/week
