Cozy Oatmeal

I call this my cozy oatmeal. It is a generational recipe, passed down by my grandmother.
 
Makes 4 servings.
 

Ingredients

  • 3½ cups water
  • 1 cup steel-cut oats
  • 3 apples, peeled and diced
  • ¾ cup dried cranberries
  • 1 tbsp. cocoa powder
  • 1 tbsp. cinnamon
  • 2 tbsp. peanut butter (optional)
  • 1 tbsp. honey or maple syrup (optional) .

Instructions

Bring 3½ cups of water to a boil. Once boiled, add 1 cup steel-cut oats. Add peeled and diced apples, dried cranberries, cocoa, honey, cinnamon, and peanut butter. Cook for 15 minutes on medium-low heat.
 
Keeps well in the fridge for 4 days.
