About the Role
New Roots Herbal and its affiliated companies are a group of rapidly growing entities, and we are currently expanding our Accounting Department. Reporting to the Finance Director, this position will be supported by accounting technicians as well as accounts receivable and payable teams.
Main Tasks and Key Responsibilities
- Participate in the full accounting cycle and month-end close for all entities.
- Support the international sales team in their expansion to ensure financial transactions are recorded in a timely manner and inventories are reconciled monthly.
- Reconcile inventory on a monthly basis and investigate discrepancies to correct any errors. Contribute to the continuous improvement of business processes in production, inventory management, and intercompany transactions.
- Participate in the development and maintenance of internal controls.
- Reconcile subsidiary ledgers with the general ledger.
- Reconcile intercompany accounts.
- Maintain capital expenditure records and depreciation schedules.
- Update prepaid and accrued expenses schedules.
- Record monthly accrual entries.
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis.
- Review and validate expense accounts, credit card statements, supporting documents, general ledger postings, and obtain appropriate approvals for timely recording.
- Prepare monthly financial statements, supported by monthly and annual analysis.
- Assist in year-end audits and any other governmental audits.
- Support the Finance Director in all financial matters of the organization.
- Provide support to members of the Accounting Department in completing their tasks.
- Participate in the calculation of manufacturing costs.
- Assist with special projects and other related tasks as required
Required Competences and Skills
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting practices.
- Experience in full-cycle bookkeeping and financial statement preparation.
- Good knowledge of ERP systems, particularly SAP Business One and SQL (asset).
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite with advanced Excel skills and a proven ability to work with large data sets.
- Solid knowledge of manufacturing cost accounting.
- Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills.
- Team player who works well under pressure and meets deadlines.
- Good written and verbal communication skills in both English and French (English is required due to presence across Canada and internationally).
- Excellent time management, project management, and planning skills.
Education
University degree in Accounting. Over five (5) years of relevant experience in a manufacturing environment.
Schedule
Monday to Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (40 hours / week)
Permanent, full-time position
