New Roots Herbal’s Plant Digestive Enzymes help resupply your body with naturally sourced plant enzymes lost from cooked and processed food. These enzymes digest fats, proteins, carbohydrates, sugars, grains, and fibres. They also maximize assimilation of critical vitamin and mineral within food.

In their natural state, raw and unprocessed food contains the necessary enzymes for complete digestion. However, many of us consume primarily cooked food, and digestive enzymes are extremely sensitive to heat. They are destroyed by temperatures above 48 °C (118 °F), so imagine what cooking does to these enzymes, impairing digestion! Additionally, pasteurization, canning, chemical preservatives, and microwaving also destroy digestive enzymes.

Our plant-based digestive enzymes complement the body’s natural pancreatic enzymes, ensuring optimal digestion. Unlike pancreatic enzymes, which need an alkaline environment, plant-based enzymes work effectively in the stomach’s acidic conditions. This means they can be taken before, during, or after meals, offering flexibility and consistent digestive support. Their broad spectrum of digestive support maximizes nutrient assimilation of proteins, fats, carbohydrates, grains, sugars, and fibres, and they even help break down gluten.

Being plant-sourced, these enzymes are ideal for vegetarians and those seeking natural options. They have a broad activity range, aiding in the breakdown of various foods for efficient digestion and nutrient absorption. Plant digestive enzymes initiate digestion within the stomach and continue through the small intestine, supporting pancreatic enzymes in completing the process. This dual action enhances nutrient absorption and digestive comfort without diminishing the body’s natural enzyme production.
